If you are walking in or driving by Sefton Park tonight, you will notice that the field near the Ullet Road gate is looking a little different. The Gospel Tent was taken down today and packed away for another year.

The tent was filled for the very last gospel meeting of the series in Sefton Park. Many who had visited the tent during the month returned for the last night to hear Paul speak from Luke 16:19-31.
The passage from Luke's gospel recorded the very words of the Lord Jesus Christ concerning a poor man who ended up in heaven and a rich man who ended up in hell. It was a very serious message as Paul emphasised the importance of the words of the Lord Jesus and the relevance of to everyone. All
are on their way to either one of these two places. Those who end up in heaven will not be there because they went to a church, lived a good life, or attended the gospel tent, but because they were believing on, trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ and resting in forgiveness of their sins, because he paid
the punishment at the cross. He has done all necessary for individuals to go to heaven and it cost Him more than we could ever know. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.

Tonight at 8pm will be the last meeting in the Gospel Tent as it will be dismantled tomorrow. If you're free get along to here the message of the gospel one more time in Sefton Park. It's a message that mustn't be missed.

This afternoon was the last 'Tea in the Tent' and lots of people came. We heard from Jim Elliot who was brought up in Liverpool.

About 150 people gathered for the last Saturday gospel meeting at the tent. Two people came expecting gospel music and whilst it was not what they were expecting,
some gospel hymns were sung and the singing tonight was quite good too! It was so good, we've uploaded a recording of tonight's hymn singing to the MP3 section of the website,
or click here to download directly [9.2MB]
Tonight, Paul spoke from John 3:26, indicating that the verse speaks of two addresses,
which cover everyone, John 3:36 A and John 3:36 B. At John 3:36 A ('He that believeth on the Son') live all those who are saved and at John 3:36 B ('he that believeth not the Son')
live all those who are not saved. It was a very clear message, listen to the message in full [10.7MB].

Another 'Tea in the Tent' this afternoon. This time, we heard the life story of Bert Mountain, sang hymns by Isaac Watts, and Charlotte Elliott and listened to Paul speak on Psalm 23.
There was an interesting story about a famous man called Matthew Arnold, who apparently listened to the Gospel being preached in Sefton Park hours before he died of a heart attack.
The last hymn he sung was 'When I Survey the Wondrous Cross'.
Though he was quite a hard man, Matthew was really spoken to by the preaching and
the words of the hymn and believed on the Lord Jesus, hours before his death. Interesting, that well over 100 years later,
the gospel is still being preached in Sefton Park and we sung the same hymn!
When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of Glory died;
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.
Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ, my God;
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to his blood.
See, from his head, his hands, his feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down.
Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown.
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were an offering far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

Lots of people around in Sefton Park today and some have stopped to chat and taken away a
Gospel of John and Ultimate Questions Booklet. Some people spoke about heaven and how it's
important to be right with God in order to one day be there - how important
the message of the gospel is!

Today there is an
African Music Festival in Sefton Park as well.
Noisy competition, but our message is more important :-)

Another great young people's night. Despite the
alternative football match, plenty of lads turned up at Sefton Park for the tent match, which was a 4-4 jackpot draw. Some of the girls played volleyball, others made sunhats inside the tent.
Later, Jeremy spoke about facebook
and God's book, before Andrew finished off with a message on
John 9.

Another busy night, around 120 people in the tent. Paul spoke about the
Philippian jailor in
Acts 16.

Great young ppl's nite. Around 70 kids, playing football, volleyball or making
crafts in the tent. Paul's message was about
fools saying there is no God.
Afterwards, everyone enjoyed takeaway pizza for supper.

It has been a busy couple of days down at the Gospel Tent in Sefton Park; yesterday being the fullest day of activity so far, with a coffee time in the morning,
'Tea in the Tent' in the afternoon, with the Gospel meeting at night. 'Tea in the Tent'
was the first of 4 Wednesday afternoon events for June and comprised a time of hymn singing, a life story and Gospel Message
all followed by afternoon tea. The event was very well attended and everyone seemed to enjoy singing the old favourites, just like
'there is a green hill far away, outside a city wall...'. This was written by Frances Alexander who wrote lots of hymns for children, including 'all things bright and beautiful'.
Her aim was to simply present Bible truth through the words; the fourth verse talks about what the Lord Jesus did on the cross in a lovely way - 'There was no other good enough
to pay the price of sin; He only could unlock the gate of heaven, and let us in.'
It was also great to hear the life story of Eric Hughes, who was brought up in the Dingle.
Eric told of his first knowledge of anything to do with the Bible was when he heard the Salvation Army singing hymns. Later on, as a result of friends who had a concern for him, he got
to know more through going to hear the gospel of how the Lord Jesus died so that he could be saved from his sin. One night, at a gospel meeting held in the
Philharmonic Hall, he realised that he needed to be saved and believed on the Lord Jesus. During the following 60 years or so, he has known the continued help of God and peace through
salvation only available through the faith in Christ.

After all of the preparations and the task of putting up the tent on Saturday the programme
of activities is now in full swing! Three Gospel Meetings have now been and gone and on Saturday
and Sunday the tent was packed out! Many Christians have supported the meetings, but there have also been
a good number of visitors who have come along to see what the message is all about and have listened to evangelist
Paul McCauley speak about being saved through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Tonight he read from the Bible
"whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10v13), what a simple statement;
how great that God has done all necessary through the Lord Jesus giving Himself on the cross in order that men and
women could be saved! Yet how difficult, perhaps, for some to admit their need of the Lord Jesus and call upon Him.
Quite simply, the desire of those that have arranged the Gospel Tent in Sefton Park is that many people will do just
that!... Call upon the name of the Lord and be saved!
The first Coffee and Chat time will be tomorrow morning, with coffee (freshly brewed - very important!),
tea and biscuits and opportunity to chat freely with the Christians at the Tent.
